WEBSITE INFORMATION
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Harry Shaw Business Computers Ltd uses personal information when you visit this website, contact us or make an enquiry. It concerns our own website and correspondence. Processing carried out for customers under an IT services agreement is governed by the relevant separate arrangements.

We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Please use the contact details above for privacy questions, rights requests or complaints.
2. Information we collect
Our enquiry form asks for your first name, last name, email address, the type of help you need, a description of your requirements and confirmation that we may use your information to respond. You may also provide a telephone number and company name. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. Without the required details we cannot process the form, but you can contact us by telephone or email.
We also receive the information you choose to include in emails, telephone enquiries and follow-up correspondence. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, sensitive personal information or confidential customer records through the general enquiry form.
Operating and protecting a website involves technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device information, request times and error or security information. Google reCAPTCHA also processes technical and interaction information to help assess whether form activity is genuine.
3. Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Answering business enquiries and arranging discussions: our legitimate interests in communicating with business contacts, understanding requirements and responding to requests.
- Taking steps towards a contract with you personally, at your request: where relevant, the contractual steps basis. Enquiries made on behalf of a company are ordinarily handled under our legitimate interests in business correspondence.
- Operating and protecting the website and enquiry service: our legitimate interests in maintaining availability, detecting abuse and protecting information.
- Meeting applicable legal duties: legal obligation, where a specific duty requires us to retain or disclose information.
The form's privacy checkbox relates to using the details to respond to that enquiry. It is not a newsletter or advertising subscription. We do not treat sending an enquiry as permission to add you to a marketing mailing list.
4. Storage and sharing
Enquiries are stored in the website's WordPress database through Forminator. The form sends a business notification by email and a confirmation to the email address supplied by the visitor.
Information may be accessible to authorised staff and service providers involved in website hosting, maintenance, technical support, backup and email delivery, to the extent needed for those functions. The website is maintained with support from Nettl Worcester. Access by website support personnel is separate from a public marketing subscription.
We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. We do not sell enquiry details.
5. Google services and international processing
The Contact Us page loads Google reCAPTCHA to help protect the enquiry form against automated abuse. It connects your browser to Google and uses technical signals and cookies for risk analysis. Google's processing is explained in its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Google's services operate internationally, so its processing is not confined to the UK.
Contact us if you need information about the service providers involved in handling your enquiry or the arrangements relevant to overseas processing. For browser storage and available controls, see our Cookie Policy.
Planned Google Analytics and Site Kit
We plan to connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 through Google's Site Kit plugin at go-live. Site Kit provides access to reports within WordPress. Google Analytics is not currently active on this website.
The intended purpose of Analytics is to understand website traffic and use, identify useful content and improve the website. With your analytics consent, it would process information such as pages viewed, visit timing and engagement, referral source, browser and device details, approximate location and cookie-based browser or session identifiers. This information is not necessarily anonymous. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.
Our planned lawful basis for optional Analytics processing is your consent. We intend to keep Analytics blocked until you accept analytics cookies. Rejecting them will not prevent access to the website or enquiry service. The planned preference controls and the distinction between current and proposed cookies are explained in our Cookie Policy. No working cookie-preference panel is currently available.
Google would receive analytics information to provide measurement and reporting services. Search Console is intended to help us review visibility and performance in Google Search; connecting it does not itself require a Google Analytics visitor tag or analytics cookie. It is separate from the enquiry form.
See Google's Privacy Policy, how Google uses information from websites using its services and Google Analytics data safeguards. The proposed setup does not include advertising or remarketing services.
International processing for the planned services
Google operates internationally and information may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. Google describes its transfer frameworks, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and contractual safeguards where applicable, in its data transfer information. The arrangements applicable to the final Analytics account and service terms will be confirmed before activation, and this policy will be updated with the relevant transfer details. You can contact us for information about applicable safeguards or how to obtain a copy.
6. How long information is kept
The website's form database does not currently apply an automatic expiry date to stored enquiries. Email notifications and correspondence are held separately from those website entries, so removing an entry does not automatically remove an email copy.
In deciding whether information remains necessary, relevant considerations include whether an enquiry is still active, the nature of the business relationship, any applicable legal record-keeping requirements and the need to deal with a dispute or legal claim. You can contact us about the information held in relation to your enquiry and request erasure where that right applies.
The Analytics retention settings have not yet been selected because the service is not active. The applicable settings and retention information will be confirmed before collection starts. Cookie expiry periods are separate from the retention of information in Analytics reports.
7. Security
The website uses HTTPS to encrypt information in transit. Administrative access is restricted to authorised users. No website or email system can be guaranteed completely secure. If you believe information sent to us has been compromised, contact us promptly using the details above.
8. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may ask to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, erase information, restrict its use or receive information in a portable format. These rights have conditions and exceptions.
Your right to object
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. If information is used for direct marketing, you may object to that use at any time.
Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Once the planned cookie controls are available, you will be able to withdraw Analytics consent through the preference control, as well as contact us about your data protection rights. Contact us to exercise a right. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity. Requests are normally free of charge and we will respond within the applicable statutory timescale.
9. Questions and complaints
You can raise a privacy concern by email at info@harryshaw.net, by telephone or in writing to our registered office. Please explain the issue and how we can contact you. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint for current information and ways to contact the ICO.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the website or our relevant information-handling practices change. The date below identifies this version.
